We have enjoyed the quiet day here in Ketchikan. We had breakfast at the New York Cafe just above us. Great food. We highly recommend it. We then went to a few shops to pick up “Alaska swag” for the grandkids. This is Marlene with a coat intended for our grand daughter, Carmen.
We walked from the basin to the Safeway store to pick up a few items before we head south. Along the walk back we ran into a boat we saw earlier in our season in Port McNeil.
Upon our return we were delighted to see the Waggoner group, led by Mike Beemer, had arrived and were able to get into Thomas Basin as well. We are going to have drinks tonight with the Jim and Debbie Kochel who have a 39 Nordic with a flybridge, very similar to our boat. They reached out to us earlier in the year having read our blog. This is there first trip to Alaska we we were happy to greet them. It sounds like they have been enjoying a great cruise with the group.
Tomorrow morning we are off around 7:00 am for a 3.5 hour cruise to Pond Bay on Duke Island to stage for our 4th of July crossing through Dixon Entrance to Prince Rupert. We already have our reservation for our favorite sushi restaurant, Fukasaku. The fish is brought in fresh daily. It’s a very small restaurant, maybe 7 tables, and the sushi is incredible. But…….we have to make it there first:)
Blessings for safe and uneventful trip!
