We departed Blind Channel to coordinate with the Slack Tide at Seymour Narrows. After consultation with several other boaters in Blind Channel we determined that we could go through the Narrows “early” based on the fact that we are going through on a ebbing tide, and the the the change in tidal flow was not great.
We departed Blind Channel at 9:30AM and were through Seymour Narrows without incident by 12:00,about 1 hour before slack tide there. We had expected some winds as we departed Blind Channel and merged once again into Johnstone Strait, and indeed we encountered them, but they were absolutely tolerable and time limited.
From Seymour Narrows down to Comox was an absolute “Dream Date”; Glassy seas, warm weather and beautiful ride. Quite a change from what we experienced here last year!! We arrived in Comox about 5p.m. And were safely tucked into our reserved space on the dock at the Comox Valley Maria. We love this marina. We had a warm, calm, beautiful night here eating pizza from a local restaurant and enjoying the sunset. Tomorrow we take on the remainder of the Georgia Strait. The weather prediction is for more of the same, so we are looking forward to another calm ride south to Schooner Cove just North of Nanaimo.
