Happy Fourth of July to Everyone.
We left Pond Cove, Duke Island at 6:00 a.m. this morning for our seven hour crossing of Dixon Entrance. This is one of the “big water crossings” that can be treacherous if you get it wrong. Fortunately, thanks to our meteorologist, Christ Parker’s float plan it was a reasonably calm crossing. We had about two hours of 4 to 5 foot rolling waves, but calm seas the rest of the cruise into Prince Rupert.
Can you spot our Nordic Tug shadowed by the mega yacht, Stardust? This yacht has an overall length of 62.5 m. The yacht’s builder is Amels from The Netherlands, who launched Stardust in 2020. In the world rankings for largest yachts, the mega yacht Stardust is listed as the 444th largest yacht in the world. It is reported to have cost is 200 million dollars with an annual running cost of about 25 million dollars a year. Wow, there is always, always, a bigger boat.
Tomorrow we will sleep in and see the sites in Prince Rupert. This is the first time we have been here when it’s actually been sunny. I have two big goals of the day: 1. Do laundry, 2. Get invited on the mega yacht for cocktails tomorrow:)
Stay tuned.
Marlene coming down the dock when the mega yacht was out fueling up. Hmm, that would be one expensive fueling.
