We arrived in Petersburg about noon today. After a not so great night of sleep due to our “fishing boat generator friend” running his generator all night we were happy to leave at 6:30 to time the Wrangell Narrows right. This is a narrow dredged waterway that has opposing tide flow that meets at Greenpoint. It’s a timing issue. We timed it perfectly reaching the entrance at 9:30, Greenpoint at slack at 11:00 and then proceeded to Petersburg at the beginning of an incoming tide which made for an easy docking. (Docking here can be a real bear if you have tide and current running in the harbor). Outstanding navigation today Marlene!!!
As we were entering Wrangell Narrows we saw another boat entering slightly ahead of us, and low and behold, it was Salish Dream, friends we just met at Myer’s Chuck. We are meeting up with Karen and Kevin for drinks and dinner tomorrow night. Small world that will get even smaller with the boats heading north.
We are laying low tonight. Tomorrow we will begin looking at the weather conditions for our impending travels north.
