Quiet Day in Juneau

Alaska Bound 2024

We had a quiet day in Juneau today. We did some provisioning, shopping and a visit to the Alaska State Museum—a not to miss. This museum is new, I’d guess less than four or five years. It tells the history of Alaska in a very contemporary way filled with native artifacts. We spent a couple of hours there.

We also returned to Continental Hall to watch different tribes perform their native dances. I love the picture of this little girl. Each tribe starts with an Elder entering, in most cases by wheel chair, then the adults with their children in tow. (By the way Marlene and I really like the term, “Elder,” over seniors, ha, ha).

There is a park near the town bridge that affords great views as well as several fantastic totems.

Not sure what is going on with this boat but he is definitely smoking up the channel. This evening we had fresh prawns we bought off a fishing boat here on the harbor. Oustanding. Tomorrow will be our last day in Juneau before we continue our journey north.
