Reid Harbor, Stuart Island

Alaska Bound 2024

We arrived in Reid Harbor yesterday afternoon about 4:00 p.m. It’s a beautiful Harbor with great hikes, one, specifically to the Turn Point Lighthouse as shown above. It was a five and a half mile hike from Reid Harbor to the lighthouse but well worth it. An added benefit is that the lighthouse has the finest “outhouse” in all of the San Juan Islands. There is a coat rack, flowers. Quite special.

Our plan is to stay here for one more night and then check out Roche Harbor tomorrow as our final anchorage before we head home on Wednesday.

I would love to do that hike. what a beautiful part of the world on a wonderful weather day!

was on a jog/hike in Tildon Park today walking to and from our home, so just a small amount of our day was very similar.

Two days here on anchorage in Roche Harbor then home to Anacortes this afternoon. We will do a wrap up of the summer adventure in the next few days.

Don, thank you. It has been a wonderful 2 1/2 month trip to Alaska. And while I have you on the line, you should be thankful that you sold your boat when you did. There are quite a few boats on the market now that last you would’ve sold in a heartbeat, and the market seems to be totally dead. Two friends with Nordic Tugs can’t sell their boats and they are in pristine condition. Final note, we filled in the chines on our boat and literally it was 100% effective. We have not had one night without sleep due to noise.
