May 27-29th
We have been enjoying San Juan Island this weekend. We started out Friday staying at Friday Harbor. It was pretty much just us and all the shrimp boats who looked to be getting their limits. They end up being very good boat mates: they go to bed early, and they are up and out before we wake. We had a great afternoon lunch at our favorite brewery: San Juan Brewery. Great locally made beers and fantastic food. We highly recommend their pizzas. (www.Sanjuanbrew.com).
Saturday we cruised over to the bay outside of Roche Harbor. We arrived to significant winds so it took us a bit of time and a couple of tries to find the right spot to put down a hook. (For those of you who are interested I recently upgraded our anchor to a Rochna 25, better known as a Vulcan (Rocha.com). I also installed a mantis swivel. (Mantiusmarine.com) We carry 350 feet of chain.
It has been a very active Memorial Day weekend. Great weather, a bit choppy water during the day, but dead calm at night (yea). We have been going into the marina each day for our walks. During my Saturday run I came upon this coyote who has real intent in his eyes. Breakfast soon followed. (I didn’t include that picture. I’m trying to keep our blog G rating).
We are having dinner tonight at McMillin’s Restaurant. We HIGHLY recommend the prime rib. From our perspective, it’s the best in the northwest. (Www.Roche harbor.com).
Tomorrow we are cruising into Canada where we will clear customs and meet up with our fellow Nordic Tuggers (54 boats in all) at Sidney Harbor.
As I mentioned in an earlier post,I’m new to blogging so it will take me a bit of time to tune up this site and provide a tracking link. Until then you can find us in the free app MarineTraffic.com available on iOS and Android.
Well done
