Wow. What an incredible day. Dan and Darcie met us on our boat for my fresh baked banana bread and “critically acclaimed” rhubarb jam then took us on a tour of Mitkof island.
Our first stop was Fish Locks. No fish yet. They show up late July or early August.

Next stop was Blind River.

We then stopped at Three Trees RV and Cabin Resort.

Carvings are scattered throughout the store. Fishermen come here and stay for a month during prime fishing season, setting up shop with the smokers, etc. Pretty cool. The owner is busy painting the store when the sun is out, which is today, the first day.

Here is a fly fisher, fishing for salmon. If you blink your eyes you would think you are in Montana.

Here is a picture of Marlene with Darcie.

Remember, we met Dan and Darcie literally two days ago when they visited our boat. They have been incredibly hosts for us here in Petersburg.

Marlene found this boat on our last hike. She is ready to turn in our Nordic Tug for this boat. Why? Much easier to manage and far less “systems” to worry about.

By the way, did I mention Eagles. They are “everywhere” like sparrows everywhere.

Breathtakingly beautiful everywhere you go.

And this is our last photo. This is Dan. Yes, he is set apart from us but you have to give him a break, he is Norwegian, from North Dakota and skeptical of new people. Actually, he is a kind, wonderful warm person with a wicked sense of humor and a University Professor to boot. This has been the highlight day of our trip this year. We are now headed home officially starting tomorrow. Gods speed be with us as we travel South.
Dan’s picture shows how gregarious and outgoing he is as an engineer! Or was he being kind to the others on the bench due to his poor personal hygiene or is he practicing to be a hermit and recluse. Or are Greg and Marlene required to perform community service for some transgression and they have to pretend to like Dan? Or maybe all of the above?
I think it’s as simple as “this guy in North Dakota Norwegian.😂”
