Sunday June 18th, 2024
We woke up this morning to beautiful sunny skies and water smooth as silk! We had plans to take the 4 hour cruise up and back to Margerie Glacier today. Due to the limited number of nights we can stay in the Park, we discussed our options and decided that instead of battling the floating city cruise ships that would be at the Margerie Glacier, we would just stay here in Reid Harbor and enjoy all that this beautiful place has to offer. We set out this morning on a major kayak paddle over to the Reid Glacier with our friends Karen and Kevin. We immediately knew we had made the correct choice!
We exited the kayaks and hiked up towards the glacier which was really special. Thank goodness for ExtrTuff BOOTS!
Back at the boat, we also opened up a new business here in Alaska. “Kleven’s Internet and Water Service.” Our friends above are on a sail boat with limited water and batteries for internet. We gladly shared our Starlink connectivity as well as filling their water jugs of freshly made water. (Yea, for our water maker).
Tomorrow is our last night in Glacier Bay. We will be moving back to Bartlett Cove and then start heading South with plans to travel down the coasts of Chichagof and Baranof Islands weather permitting. We have just had an AMAZING experience here in Glacier Bay and our new friends Karen and Kevin have definitely help make this portion of our journey special.
