We left Nanaimo this morning at 5:30 am to absolutely calm, glass like sea conditions. We timed our arrival to pass through Dodd Narrows for 6:30 am. For those of you who are not familiar with these narrows, Dodd runs up to 9 knots as water swirls through the very narrow passage between foreboding cliffs and rocks. You do NOT want to go through Dodd at full flood or ebb. We entered at slack and it was a non event. The added advantage of an early morning passing is that there are far fewer boats passing through the narrows early in the morning. We cleared through as the only boat heading south. Earlier this week our friends went through in the afternoon with “50 or so of our closest friends”.

Telegraph Harbor is a wonderful marina, clean, beautiful, friendly, with a good Cafe serving up sandwiches, breakfast goodies and the like. The WiFi is also very good. We first came to this harbor about 35 years ago on Marlene’s parents boat. I estimate that Dane must have been about 4 years old. Marlene’s mother Arlean LOVED this Marina and we think of her when we come here and enjoy the beautiful grounds. We are going to spend two nights before we head back the the US of A.
