The Nordic Tug Rendezvous is officially underway. We have 54 boats participating in our gathering. Several are older boats dating back to the late 90s and three are brand new boats on their first summer of cruising.
For those of you who are not familiar with a rendezvous it is basically a gathering of boat owners (in our case Nordic Tug) who come together to listen to lectures, share boating ideas, spend time together eating, laughing and drinking—and most important of all—discuss all things concerning our Nordic Tug Boats.
Dave Allen, Director for the Nordic Tug factory kicked off the “vous” with a Q and A discussion about the factory and the number of boats that are currently in production. Next up was an interesting discussion by two agents with Canadian Fisheries who talked about Orcas in Canadian waters including the Pender Island exclusion zone and how best to handle whales when you encounter them.
This evening we will attend the gala dinner event at the Salish Sea Aquarium Centre. Then, back to the boat to prepare for an early departure tomorrow morning at daylight (5:30 am). We use the weather app Predict Wind as our main guide. We have been watching the wind and currents for the past week and tomorrow looks to be a good day for cruising and crossing the Strait of Georgia. When it comes to boating, when there is a weather window you take it. And so we shall. We are looking at a 9 hour cruise from Sidney to Garden Bay on the Sunshine Coast located in Pender Harbor.
(One final note. I updated our blog tracking. For those who are reading on an iPad or PC you will see a box on the upper left side of the screen “Tradition Whereabouts.” Click on this and it will show you where we are currently located. For those on a iPhone or Android phone you will see a small pull down screen in the middle at the top of the page, click this and it will take you to our location).
Fair winds and calm seas! Looking forward to hearing about your trip!
On the road again!
