Staging North

Alaska Bound 2024

Blind Channel, Canada May 14, 2024

We left Lund Harbour at 11:00 am to make the rapid crossing of Yuculta and Dent at 3:15. Cruising slower than usual at 6.5 knots we reached the rapids on time—and when you time them right—it was a none event. Smooth seas through both rapids. We continued on for about 2.5 hours to Blind Channel.

It’s still pretty early season, few boats, the store closes early and the restaurant isn’t open—and it’s dead quiet. Nature at its finest. All you hear are the birds and the water.

There are about six other boats in the marina that “our guess” is that they are staging to head north. We will find out in the morning. Looking ahead to crossing Johnstone Straits tomorrow on our way to Port McNeil for a 8.5 hour cruise.
