We left Naha this morning at 6:00 a.m. for a four hour cruise to Meyer’s Chuck. Naha is a special place that will go down as one of our favorites. Fantastic hiking trail, beautiful scenery, and friendly folks.

This is a picture of a skid ramp that was used to transport small boats from the bay side of the inlet over to the lagoon, avoiding the nearby rapids that are active except at high slack tide. According to the Forest Ranger we met yesterday this hasn’t been used for decades.

Clearly you cannot get through to the other side.

Our big score of the day at Naha occurred when I baked a loaf of my “critically acclaimed” banana bread (acclaimed by me) and brought it over to the construction workers camped out on our dock who have been doing the renovation of the trail. When I presented them with the bread they asked me if we like spot prawns.

He presented us with a 2pound bag of prawns. This was dinner last night and we will repeat the dinner event tonight again.

When we arrived in Meyer’s Chuck this morning around 10:00 a.m. the entire outside dock was full as you can see below. We ended up tying down at the end of the inner side of the dock. We came in at low tide but I still had 17 feet. We will stay here tonight planning on a three hour cruise to Santa Anna Inlet tomorrow if the weather conditions hold. We will then move onward to Wrangell.

Final pic, Marlene contemplating the sea.
