A picture is worth a thousand words and this is the case with the picture above showing how small our boat is in perspective here in the Misty Fjords tells it all, Of all the places we have been in Alaska over the past 3 years we will put this place near the top. It reminds us of Tracy Arm just without the Ice Bergs floating around. Over the past two days we have been exploring the fjord by kayak and dingy.

There are running streams scattered throughout the terrain. Most of our exploring we have done by kayak.

One of the real treats was discovering an adolescent brown bear foraging for food on the beach. Marlene reminded me of an indigenous saying, “When the tide goes out the table is set.” And so it was. We watched this brown bear, black ears and nose, and rear, muck through the tide looking for clams and other treats. He was accompanied by birds who are constantly dive bombing him as he scatters up the sea bed. It has been a real treat to behold, both last night and tonight. (Unfortunately we do not have a high powered telescope so taking pictures is not an option).
As much as we hate to leave this coveted buoy after two days it is time to move on. We will miss Walker Cove. Today we only saw one boat cruise by hoping to find the buoy empty. Maybe tomorrow.

I will close with a bit of humor. During cocktail hour Marlene asked the question. “Greg, where are you taking me tomorrow for our anniversary.” Yo, if she hadn’t mentioned it I would have totally forgot the occasion. We were married in 1979 so this is our 46th year. So far so good. Or as Marlene’s mother would say, “It worked out”.

Happy anniversary!! What a beautiful place to celebrate.
Thank You Mary. Yes indeed it is a beautiful place. The last two nights we spent bear watching. I guess a good answer to, “and what did you do on your anniversary?” Ha, ha.
Your happiness seems to radiate off the computer screen! Go with God, and leave no trace.
Congratulations! Well done!
