We left Port Neville this morning at 7:30. Both Marlene and I agreed that this place is a real gem. For some reason I had it stuck in my head that it was basically just a place to tuck in from bad weather on Johnstone Strait. But it is so much more than this. The surrounding cove is beautiful and the grounds are well maintained, historical, and pretty. Here are a few more pictures.

The dock has several purple martin boxes. Here are Mom and Dad taking a break from their nestlings inside.
We arrived in Port McNeill at noon and proceeded to the fuel dock to top up our tanks for the journey around Cape Caution. The harbor is pretty quiet but loaded with a gaggle of Kadey Krogen boats. Apparently there is a group of them gathering to journey north together to Alaska. I learned this yesterday when I met the woman who was on the boat “Brass Monkey,” the other boat on the dock with us at Port Neville
At present, our plan is to start our journey around Cape Caution with a first day destination of Allison Harbor. A final review of the weather conditions Wednesday afternoon will confirm our plan. Until then it’s a night to stay tucked in our boat, complete a few projects, read books, and take a nap. It’s been pouring down rain all afternoon.
