When we settled in to Coghlin Anchorage we thought we would be the only boat but ended up with four other boats. The big event of the evening was this beautiful rainbow, bold and vivid. It was a sight to behold.

One of the boats in this anchorage was a Nordic Tug looking trawler. Not sure of the make. I’ll have to do some research on this. But enough about Coghlin. Great anchorage, we would definitely return. We pulled up our anchor and were off for Rescue Bay at 5:30 am. It was a nine hour cruise with glassy seas almost the entire way.

The real treat came as we were nearing the Bottleneck anchorage, known for the resident whale sightings, and boy did we. There was a whole pod of whales, five in total. We cut our engine and watched the show. Below is a whale salute.

We arrived in Rescue Bay around 2:30. We thought we would be the only boat. We thought wrong. There are five other boats, the most we have seen in this bay.

Tomorrow we are off at first light for Fury Cove to stage for an “intended” crossing of Cape Caution Saturday morning. The weather reports are conflicting for tomorrow. BuoyWeather is showing calm seas the entire 10 hour journey. PredictWind is showing 8 knot winds with up to 16 knot gusts the latter portion of the cruise. Time will tell. If it gets nasty we have tuck in spots that Marlene has already scouted out. We are keeping our 🤞 for a smooth cruise. We leave you with this picture of Rescue Bay.

How exciting for you to see the whales and that awesome rainbow.
