Playing the waiting game

We arrived in Allison Harbor about 9:45 am yesterday. It was a bumpy ride the last hour with 4 to 5 foot chop, but once we cruised to the head of the inlet it immediately settled down and we had a very lovely evening.

Mid morning today four boats came into the Harbor (the SlowBoat flotilla), so now we have five boats and we are expecting at least 3 additional boats to arrive about 5PM. These are the boaters that we met in Blind Channel and then again in Pt. McNeil. Then there will be 8 boats waiting around to cross Cape Caution. Our current plan (and everyone else’s here) is to round Cape Caution tomorrow based on favorable data from our apps and perhaps a check of West Sea Otter reporting buoy and most importantly an update from Chris our weather guy!

On a personal family note the most amazing news of the day came from an unexpected mid-morning call from our youngest son Matthias and his partner Melinda who live in London. They are expecting a baby boy in early December!!! So grand baby number 3 is on the way! We already had a trip planned to see them departing LA just after Christmas, so the timing should be perfect to help out with the new little one.
